NMT Crane Hire Completes Floodlight Upgrade at Iconic Kia Oval
NMT Crane Hire has successfully completed a major floodlight upgrade at the historic Kia Oval cricket ground, replacing 20-tonne lighting structures that had illuminated the venue for 14 years.
Surrey County Cricket Club commissioned the installation of state-of-the-art LED floodlights to enhance visibility and sustainability at the iconic venue, home to numerous Ashes series and Cricket World Cup matches.
The complex operation required precision lifting in a fully operational stadium with tight working spaces. NMT deployed a Liebherr LTM 1300-6.2 (300T) crane and Terex AC40L support crane to execute lifts across all four quarters of the stadium.
“Taking on a project at a venue as prestigious as The Kia Oval is a responsibility we take seriously,” said James Ambridge, Managing Director of NMT. “The new floodlights will illuminate many more iconic moments in cricket history.”
Technical Sales Manager Mikey York led the project, with on-site supervisors Adam Potts and Steve Wicks overseeing the precision lifts.
Client Shane Tugwell of DMC Group praised the outcome: “NMT Crane Hire delivered outstanding service from start to finish, ensuring a seamless and efficient upgrade to the floodlighting system.”
The successful project ensures The Kia Oval remains at the forefront of world-class cricket venues.
