NMT Crane Hire delivers precision lift in Manchester City Centre

Over the busy festive period, NMT Crane Hire was called into the heart of Manchester to execute a highly specific and technical lift.
In one of the city’s most prestigious business districts, our team from the Birmingham depot proved why we are trusted for delicate and challenging lifting operations.
For this project, the BOCKER AK46/6000 crane was ideal choice, offering the versatility and precision required to handle the unique demands of the job.
Our mission was to lift out existing glass panels from a high-rise office building and replace them with sleek new glazing.
Operating in a bustling city centre during the festive season added an extra layer of complexity to the job, which was handled expertly by our supervisor and site team.
We took proactive steps to manage safety on-site, including working with the client and local authority to close down a busy side street and ensuring pedestrians were safely guided away from our works.
With clear signage, barriers, and of course NMT in place, we worked efficiently to maintain the highest safety standards while minimising disruption to the public.
Our works, which happened over a three day period last week, did provide some spectators, however our team navigated the challenges of a city centre environment perfectly.
The BOCKER AK46/6000, with its advanced capabilities, enabled us to complete the lifts with accuracy, ensuring the pristine installation of the new glass panels.
Terry Clarke, NMT Crane Hire Manager in the Midlands who was the appointed person on the job, said: “This project highlights why NMT Crane Hire is the go-to choice for challenging lifts in busy city centres like this. With a skilled team, a modern fleet of cranes, and a commitment to safety, we specialise in delivering precision and efficiency for projects of all sizes. Full credit to our team, which included Martin Tongue, for delivering a great result for our client.”

NMT Crane Hire is proud to share the successful completion of a crucial lifting project in Wakefield, Yorkshire, for our valued repeat client.

Our team used the 6-axle Spierings SK1265-AT6 mobile tower crane to assist in the installation of solar panels, fixing kits, and pallets—demonstrating both the versatility of our equipment and the expertise of our crew.

This environmentally focused project highlights our commitment to supporting renewable energy initiatives across the UK.

The Spierings crane, known for its mobility, reach, and efficiency, was just the job for this project.
With a 60-metre boom radius, a 10-tonne maximum lifting capacity, and eco-friendly Zero Emission eLift system, it enabled swift and precise execution even within a compact working environment.

Our representative Anton Sanderson, who brings an impressive 36 years of experience across various capacities in the crane industry, played a key role in ensuring the client’s satisfaction.

And of course, the team’s highly professional execution has delighted our customer.

Why Choose NMT Crane Hire?

With decades of experience and a diverse fleet of cutting-edge cranes, NMT Cranes is trusted to deliver exceptional lifting solutions for a wide range of industries. Whether it’s renewable energy, construction, or infrastructure projects, our commitment to safety, precision, and client satisfaction sets us apart.

For over 12 months, NMT Crane Hire has been at the heart of a complex silo dismantling project for a valued client.

Using the versatile Spierings SK1265-AT6, the team has worked tirelessly to execute safe, accurate lifts as part of the mill’s systematic deconstruction.

The project involves lifting engineering teams in man baskets to carefully unbolt silo sections, ensuring every lift is performed with zero margin for error.

We then take each section of the silo down with our team delivering the heavy lifting.

Supervisor Adam Potts highlights the importance of teamwork.

He said: “This job is all about precision and collaboration. Every detail matters, and our crew are committed to delivering results for our client.

“It’s work that is repetitive but this is lifting and demolition and our team’s concentration and delivery has never wavered. We’re getting through the work and doing it well.”

Gerry White, Director at NMT Cranes, reflects on the project’s duration and significance: “Being on this job for over a year is a testament to the trust our client places in us. Managing a project of this scale requires expertise and consistency, and I’m proud of how the team continues to meet and exceed expectations, always prioritising safety.”
